Tooltips are small hover boxes with information about the item being hovered over. Tooltips appear when the user hovers over an item (without clicking it). Tooltips can be a very handy tool in explaining some items in your posts (i.e funny headings, links etc). In this article, we will show you how to add tooltips to your WordPress posts and pages using WordPress ToolTip Plugin.
First thing you need to do is install the plugin WordPress Tooltip. (If you need help installing a plugin, then refer to our step by step guide to installing a WordPress plugin).
Once you activate this plugin, you should see a tooltip icon added to your Post Editor.
When you click on that Tooltip Icon, a new lightbox should appear like in the image below:
Insert the information in there that you want the tooltip to show. Once done, click Add a Tooltip. And you are done.
You can also add the tooltip manually if you use the shortcode like this:
1 | [tooltip content= "This will show in a tooltip" url= "This will make tooltip a link" ]Hover over me for tooltip[/tooltip] |
For the Demo, look at the thumbnail of this post on how it looks, or just google Tooltip, and you will see many examples of it.
